Dennis and I took off on June 28th early in the morning to fly to Omaha, NE. On arriving we grabbed our rental car and headed for our hotel. We grabbed a late lunch/early dinner and took off back to the airport to pick up Andrew, who we hadn't seen or talked to in over two weeks. We realized that this was the longest Andrew had ever been away from his whole family and I for one was missing him bad. His flight was an hour late, but he finally showed up all in one piece. He had some great stories and pictures to tell us that I will share some of in a later blog. In short we heard about guns, knives, huge tarantulas, rats, snakes, and how dumb promise rings are. He had a great adventure and loved the people of Dominican Republic.
Sunday Dennis and I set off to the Quest Center in downtown Omaha to watch Stephanie at the Olympic Trials. It was amazing to see how they built an Olympic size pool inside the complex (imagine your local basketball arena Arco, Staples, etc. with a huge pool in the middle). It was fun to see Stephanie, it was not so fun seeing Stephanie swim. She is not in her top competive mode, but is happy to get on with her life. We had a great lunch with her on Monday and talked about her future. She is going to finish her undergrad at LSU next year, take a year off to study and take the LSAT and work to hopefully pay for law school. Another lawyer in the family, yikes!! I'm so proud of her and how hard she works at the things that are most important to her. One more year of competitive swimming and that part of her life and mine will finally be at a close. It has been nice to have the chapter of my life finally over. I loved being involved when my kids were, but it is so nice to have my own life back! It's also great watching my kids move on in their lives also.

Monday was more swimming and Dennis feeling that he really needed to get back to the office. So Monday night Andrew and I took Dennis to the airport to fly home. We went to go see Wall-E and check out the Apple store in Omaha.
Tuesday Andrew and I took a day off from the pool and went on an adventure. We Mapquested Far West and found that it was about a 3 hour drive away. So off we went!! On the way I looked at Andrew and said, "Doesn't this remind you of Twister? "(the movie about tornado chasers) I have no idea what to do if you are driving in the middle of nowhere and a tornado comes. Luckily we made it weather free!! We found all the signs to get there (Mapquest would have gotten us lost) and came to a Country Store advertised that it had a Deseret Book store inside. We stopped and asked for directions and were told to just go up the road a little while longer. We finally saw a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints sign at the site of the Far West temple. We stopped in to see the original four cornerstones placed for the temple with signs all around the temple site describing the revelations that took place there. Hopped back in the car looking for Far West (you know a replica of the town or something). Drove 2-1/2 miles to see a sign that said Far West back the way we came 2-1/2 miles. Guess what?! The temple site is all you see for Far West. So back on the road to Adam-ondi-ahman. We are out in the middle of nowhere, but we followed the signs and finally made it. It was a beautiful sight. It was great to think about all that had and will happen there. You felt and knew you were on sacred ground.
Wednesday we headed back to the pool for Stephanie's last day of swimming. In all she swam the 100 Butterfly, 400 Individual Medley, 200 Freestyle, & 200 Butterfly. When she was all done we grabbed her and headed back to the mall to go see Hancock (mostly because Stephanie & I are big Will Smith fans). After the movie Stephanie suggested Kona Grille for dinner. It was real yummy!! It was great to sit and talk and laugh with her again (we closed the place down).
Thursday we woke up very early and gratfully headed home!!
